Happy National Poetry Month!

Hello girls and boys!  Happy Saturday to you all!  Just a quick note about today's session. Today's genre is poetry and who doesn't love sentences that rhyme?  We initially planned for a NewsChannel 36 cameraman to come out and videotape some footage of us in action, but we're still working out the logistics.  Once we have all of the details, I'll let you know.  So get your smile ready for the camera!

Until next time, keep reading and writing, writing, writing away!!! Oh yeah, don't forget the YAP motto..."Anything is possible, as long as you believe!"

Why the Young Authors Program?

If you're wondering why you should join the Young Authors Program, here are a few good reasons.  If you take Karate lessons, you walk away with a belt.  If you take piano lessons, you learn how to play the piano.  If you take swimming lessons, you learn how to swim.  Well, if you join the YAP, you may get, drum roll please...PUBLISHED!  I realized the word I asked you to unscramble in the last post was publication instead of published.  My apologies for that!

Just think of how great would it be to see your story or poem in a magazine or online?  Even greater than that, what about in a book?  That is my goal for those "serious" young writers!  As "they" say, everyone has a story to tell.  And I don't think there's an age requirement to tell it.  SO, tell your mom or dad you want your voice to be heard...by the WORLD!  I have lots of good information for youth writing contests and submissions too!  This week's session is poetry and BOY are we going to have fun with books by Shel Silverstein, Ayana Lowe, and Bob Razcka.  It's going to be a blast!

Until next time, keep reading and writing, writing, writing away!!! And don't forget the YAP motto..."Anything is possible, as long as you believe!"

Where only a few are gathered...

Hello boys and girls!  We had a great first session this past Saturday, April 2nd.  While our number was only four, those in attendance had a great time writing and sharing their stories in the "Author's Chair."  They also had fun drawing their illustrations too!  Guess what else, one of the participants wrote her story in CHINESE!!!  How cool is that?

Even though we may have missed you last Saturday, it's not too late.  We'll be doing it again this Saturday, April 9th, so remind your parents again.  Same time and place.  The program information link is below.  I also have a few things up my sleeve I'll be telling you about in the coming days.  To make sure you check back in, I'm going to scramble the letters of the word my secret relates to here (npouibtlaic).  If you figure it out, tell me on Saturday when you come and I'll let you know if you're correct.

Until next time, keep reading and writing, writing, writing away!!! And don't forget the YAP motto..."Anything is possible, as long as you believe!"
